Outcomes from this work example.
Challenge · 01
Kirana stores, tiffin services, and vegetable vendors already run everything on WhatsApp — but every e-commerce tool aimed at them assumes English, typing, and an app install. For most, that's a wall, not an on-ramp, and the busywork of answering the same price questions never ends.
Solution · 02
Instead of a new app, we built a voice-first extension inside WhatsApp that spins up everything a small shop needs to sell online — and lets a merchant run it entirely by speaking.
Approach · 03
We started from how a vendor actually talks to customers — by voice, in their own language — not from a checkout flow.
We designed around the merchant's real behaviour first, then chose the speech, translation, and catalog models to support it. DukaanSethu stands up a storefront, Meta catalog, Facebook page, and printable QR poster in under sixty seconds, with zero app install. Merchants add products and update prices by holding the mic and speaking, across eleven Indian languages. Payments run on raw UPI, so no processor takes a cut.
Outcome · 04
What changed inside the operation.
- 01Full storefront live in under sixty seconds, with no app to install
- 02Catalog and pricing updated by voice across eleven Indian languages
- 03Customers self-serve and pay on raw UPI, with no processor cut
